This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Smith sharon@axs4u.net ==================================================================== Robertson Co, TN Deed Bk G, pg 142-144 EDMUND EDWARDS From ALEXANDER GORDON Mar 1809 This indenture made this fourteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Nine between Alexander GORDON of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Edmund EDWARDS of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witneseth that for the consideration of the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars in hand paid to him the said Alexander GORDON on the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell conveyed and confirm unto the said Edmund EDWARDS his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the same County on Red River beginning at a white oak on the State line it being the beginning corner of a tract of four hundred acres granted by the State of North Carolina to Lewis BARKER and conveyed by the said BARKER to Alexander GORDON running thence south forty poles to McADOO's line thence east with said line one hundred and seventy poles to a red oak thence south with the same line ten poles to a stake and small bushes marked in the same McADOO's line thence a line agreed on between Joseph McDOWELL and said GORDON north eighty one and a half east forty seven poles to two spanish oaks thence south forty east thirty two poles to the spring branch thence south seventy two east crossing the said branch forty five poles to a small cherry tree in BARKER's old plantation thence north forty five east seventy seven poles to a post oak thence north eighty one and a half east one hundred poles to a stake in the_____thence north one hundred and twenty five poles to a stake in the State line thence with the State line to two water oaks Smith HAMPTON's corner thence southwardly to three____ _______and ash saplings on the west side of the Spring branch thence west sixty two poles to a black oak and hickory bush thence north eighty eight poles to a poplar and two small hickorys on the State line thence with the State line to the beginning with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and all rents issues and profits to him belonging or ascertaining to have and to hold the said land and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said Edmund EDWARDS his heirs and assigns forever and the said Alexander GORDON for himself his heirs executors administrators doth by these presents warrant and forever defend the said land and premises to him the said Edmund EDWARDS his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of any person or persons whatsoever whereby the above mentioned premises may be affected or encumbered contrary to the true intent and memory of these presents in witness whereof the said Alexander GORDON hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
