This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Smith sharon@axs4u.net ==================================================================== Robertson Co, TN Deed Bk B, p. 113 GORDON Apr 12, 1798 This indenture made this the 15th day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, between George GORDON of the County of Roebertson and State of Tennessee of the one part and James and David JONES of Davidson County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and ninety one dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said George GORDON to fully satisfied contented and paid hath given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said James & David JONES their heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and twenty six acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Robertson on the Sulphur Fork of Red River, being part of Hugh HENRYs preemption whereon he now lives, Beginning at a hornbean on the Claylick branch runs South thirty two poles to a hickory thence west fourteen poles to a stake thence south two hundred and forty two poles to a hickory and dogwood thence west one hundred and thirty four poles to a sugar tree near the Sulphur Fork thence North down said creek two hundred and twenty four poles to the mouth of the Claylick branch thence up said branch as it meanders to the beginning To have and to hold the above bargained premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining with all and singular the benefits and emoluments then and there from to arise unto them the said James & David JONES their heirs and assigns to their only use and behoof forever, and the said George GORDON for himself his heirs executors administrators doth hereby covenant promise and agree to and with the said James & David Jones their heirs and assigns that unto them and them only the land and premises hereby conveyed he will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claims of every preson or persons whatever, whereby the premises above mentioned may be affected or encumbered contrary to the true intent and meaning of these presents.
