This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Smith sharon@axs4u.net ==================================================================== Robertson Co, TN Deed Bk A,p. 51 Hugh HENRY to George GORDON 1797 Hugh HENRY to George GORDON Mar 10, 1797 This indenture made this sixteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven, between Hugh HENRY of the County of Robertson , State of Tennessee, of the one part and George GORDON of the County and State aforesaid of the other part: Witnesseth, that the said Hugh HENRY for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and sixty five dollars, in hand paid, the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, hath given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said George GORDON his heirs and assigns forever a tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and twenty six acres and one quarter of an acre be the same more or less, lying and being in the County of Robertson on the Sulphur Fork of Red River being part of said Hugh HENRYs preemption whereon he now lives Beginning at a horn bean on the Clay Lick branch runs south thirty two poles to a hickory thence west fourteen poles to a stake thence south two hundred and forty poles to a hickory and dogwood then west one hundred and thirty four poles to a sugar tree near the Sulphur fork then north down said creek two hundred and twenty four poles to the mouth of the Clay Lick branch then up said branch as it meanders to the beginning. To have and to hold the above bargained premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining with all and singular the benefits and emoluments thereto and therefore to arise to the said George GORDON his heirs and assigns to his only use and behoof forever and the said Hugh HENRY for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said George GORDON his heirs and assigns that to them and them only the land and premises herein conveyed he will forever defend against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever whereby the above mentioned premises may be affected or encumbered contrary to the true intent and meaning of these presents.
