This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Smith sharon@axs4u.net ==================================================================== Robertson Co, TN Deed Bk F, pg 78-79 George GORDON From James MENEES George GORDON deed from James MENEES Jul 26, 1805 This indenture made this 14th day of August one thousand eight hundred and four between James MENEES Sheriff of the County of Robertson of the one part and George GORDON of Livingston County and state of Kentucky of the other part, witnesseth that whereas by virtue of a writ of ______Expones, formed on a judgement obtained by George GORDON against John ELLIS, issued from the Court of Pleas & Quarter sessions held for the County of Robertson on the third Monday in the town of Springfield and by virtue of the writ aforesaid directed to the Sheriff of Robertson County aforesaid, requiring him the said Sheriff to cause to be made the sum to satisfy the judgement aforesaid and a further sum of______office accruing in the suit aforesaid and witness the said James MENEES did in persuance of the writ aforesaid, expose to public sale agreeable to law, one tract of land containing 630 1/2 acres butted and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a hickory white oak & black oak on David JONES west boundary line running west 240 poles to two post oaks, then south 440 poles to a spanish oak & two maypoles then east 240 poles to a stake, than north going to David JONES south west corner, and in his line in the _____ of the land north line 440 poles to the beginning on the day of and sell the same to the said George GORDON whereas the highest bidder for the sum of fifty one dollars and seventy five cents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Now the said James MENEES for and in consideration of the premises aforesaid and by virtue of the authority vested in him by law as Sheriff aforesaid doth by these premises, bargain, sell release convey or confirm unto the said George GORDON all that tract of land contained within the bounds aforesaid with all and singular, the rights privileges emoluments hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the same with the premises aforesaid to the only proper benefit behoof of him the said George GORDON his heirs & assigns forever against the claim of the said John ELLIS _______.
