R. B. GORDON from D. D. POPE 5 May 1826

This indenture made this the 16th day of January in the year of our Lord 1826 
Between Dempsey D. POPE of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of 
the one part and Robert B GORDON of the same State and County aforesaid of the 
other part In witness whereof the said Dempsey D POPE for & in consideration 
of the sum of six hundred dollars to me in hand paid, the said Robert B GORDON 
the receipt whereof I the said Dempsey D POPE hath hereby acknowledged and 
hath bargained and sold & conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth grant 
bargain & sell a certain tract of land unto the said Robert B GORDON lying 
being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of Red River & bounded 
as follows Beginning at a Black oak the South East corner of Robert B GORDONs 
line and running West 280 poles with the said GORDONs line to HARTs thence 
South with HARTs line to Charles POPEs line fifty three poles to a black oak 
then East with the said Charles POPEs line and James A. ROBERTSON's to a post 
oak the south east corner of the old survey line North with A WASHINGTONs line 
to the beginning ninety eight acres the same more or less of land with all its 
appurtenances thereunto belonging to the only proper use of the said Robert B 
GORDON's heirs and assigns forever In witness whereof the said Dempsey D POPE 
his and my heirs will warrant & forever defend against all rights titles 
claims and of all persons whatsoever unto the said Robert B GORDON and his 
heirs forever the above tract of land In witness whereof I the said Dempsey D 
POPE this the same day and date first above written signed sealed and 
delivered in the presence of
