GORDON From D.D. POPE 5 May 1826 333) This indenture made this 16th day of January A.D. 1826 Between Dempsey POPE of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Robert B. GORDON of the same State and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Dempsey D. POPE for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Robert B. GORDON the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Dempsey POPE hath granted bargained and sold a certain tract of land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid unto the said Robert B. GORDON as follows, viz. Beginning at a post oak the south east corner of the old survey running south to the branch thence up the rim of the branch to a stake in James ROBERTSONs line thence west with said line to a stake the corner of the said survey thence north to a black oak then to 334) the corner of James ROBERTSONs survey in Robert B GORDONs south boundary line to the beginning corner post oak containing of five acres be the same more or less & including of all the improvements made on said branch of land thereunto belonging forever to be the only proper use and behoof of the said Robert B GORDON his heirs and assigns forever hereafter shall peaceable & quietly ____ ____ the aforesaid same premises free and clear from all incumberances whatever I the said Dempsey D POPE does by these presents warrant and forever defend the aforesaid land unto the aforesaid GORDON his heirs and assigns forever free and clear from the claims of all persons whatever Witness whereof I the said Dempsey D POPE have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the same day and date first above written signed sealed delivered in the presence of us Test, W W GORDON A G WASHINGTON And WASHINGTON his Dempsey D.
