READ to Geo. A. WASHINGTON, 2 Nov. 1855 This indenture made and entered into this 29th day of October 1855 between John READ of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee of the one part, and George A. WASHINGTON of the County and State above of the second part. Witnesseth that I, John Read, for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty-Five Hundred Dollars to me, cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have this day bargained, sold, aliened, and confirmed, and by these presents, do sell, alien, convey and confirm an indelible title to George A. Washington to a certain tract of land, lying on the Sulphur Fork of Red River, in civil district no. ? (8?) Robertson County State of Tennessee adjoining the lands of Richard STONE, Archibald WYNNE, William STROUD (?) and George A. WASHINGTON, containing Five hundred acres. It being composed of, and including all of two tracts of land, purchased by me, one of Jesse DAVIS containing Two Hundred and Thirty acres, registered in Robertson County Book No. 4, page 351. The other as the estate of William HARRISON Dec'd, containing Two hundred and seventy acres, and sold at the sale of his property by Decree Chancery Court, Robt. DRAUGHON, Administrator, both of which tracts of land together containing Five hundred acres, and reference is made to the two said tracts from Davis and Harrison's estate for the butts and boundaries of the five hundred acres herein contained. To have and to hold the said bargained land and premises unto the said George A. Washington his heirs and assigns forever, I do covenant with the said Washington that I am lawfully seized and possessed of said land, have a good right to convey it, and that the same and every part thereof is unincumbered. I do furthermore covenant and bind myself my heirs and Representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said five hundred acres of land, and every part thereof, contained in the butts and bounds of the two deeds from Davis and the estate of Wm. Harrison Dec.d, and warrant and guarantee Five Hundred acres of land, in said two tracts unto the said Washington his heirs and assigns forever.
