He was born July 3, 1762, in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He enlisted in 1777 in Captain White's company and in 1778 he again enlisted. In 1779 he enlisted under Lieutenant Henry Johnson and Colonel Anthony New. He enlisted again in Captain Richard Philips' company and in 1781 he served seven months in Captain Robert Carey's company, Colonel Combe's Virginia regiment. In 1802 he left Louisa County, Virginia, where he was then living and moved to Robertson County, Tennessee. Note:- Dudley Brooke's children were Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Harry, John, Frances (or John Francis), and Dudley, junior.
