It is possible that it is missing from the microfilm.] “…He states that he was taken by Col. Tinnen and placed as a driver on one of the public wagons and remained in [smudges____] three months and was then discharged.” “He states that he was again drafted and put under the same officers and was started again to Hillsborough and when we got there we was all taken prisoners by Col. Fanning, a Tory colonel and was taken to Wilmington and was there put into a prison ship for about two months. The day we was taken we was taken by Fanning was the 9th of September. He states that him and his companions were taken from Wilmington by water to Charleston, South Carolina where they was kept in a prison ship until some time in the month of August 1782 when a part of us was exchanged. He states that he was one of that number. We was taken ?above? town to General Greene and he sent us home after discharging us. He states that he has no writing to prove anything about his service, nor does he know any person living by which he can”…etc. Robertson County, Tennessee September 8, 1851, Robertson County, TN: Massey Ellison, widow of Charles Ellison: “That she was married to Charles Ellison in the 4th day of September in 1786 or 87. She has no documentation and has to rely on the age of the oldest child, which is 63 years old and the record in the Bible was torn out some years ago and so is lost…She was married in Caswell County, NC by one John Wamach, a Justice of the Peace” which may be found in the Caswell County office, or the Person County office. They lived in Person County until 1822 when they moved to Tennessee where they have lived ever since. Her husband, Charles Ellison died on the 2nd day of May, 1851, and that she has remained a widow. Additional Comments: A printed form by the Dept of Interior has this additional information: That he was entered into service in August 1780 for three months under General Butler, Major William Williams and Captain Thomas Thompson.
