During the Revolution he resided in that County. After the Revolution he moved to Albermarle County, Virginia, and about 1809 he moved to Hawkins County, Tennessee. He applied for revolutionary pension October 7, 1833, while residing in Hawkins County and stated that he entered the service in the summer of 1781 and that he served ten months under Captains Ambrose Lipscomb, William Grimes and Major Burk in Virginia troops. He was granted pension but upon an investigation by the United States District Attorney at Rogersville, Tennessee, it was found that he never served as a soldier of the Revolution and his name was taken from the pension roll October 29, 1836. His application does not state whether or not he was married. Note:- This is believed to be the only case of a false claim among the residents of Tennessee who applied for Revolutionary pension.
