The end came Friday morning after many months of illness. Deceased was one of Lost Nation's best known citizens and his friends were legion. As operator at the Milwaukee depot, he was known to practically everyone in the community. John W. Hart was born July 25, 1855, in Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee and died at his home in Lost Nation, Iowa, September 4, 1914. He spent his childhood and early manhood in Tennessee, at the age of 25 years coming north and accepting a position with the C. & N. W. railway. His parents died some years ago, leaving two sisters and four brothers to mourn. He was married January 13, 1893, at Topeka, Kansas to Nannie E. Woodcox. Funeral services were conducted at the home in Lost Nation, Saturday morning. From home the remains were conveyed to the depot for shipment to Martelle, from there to Mt. Vernon for interment at the Mt. Vernon cemetery. Rev. Cleveland conducted services at the grave.
