Corlew, Sr. dcorlew@netzero.net ==================================================================== Robertson Co TN Will Bk 6, pg 247 & 248 (transcribed 3/15/2002) 247) The last Will and Testament of William Adams sen'r Dec'd. ========================================================= I William Adams sen'r of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee being of sound mind and memory though weak in body knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following (viz) Item, My will and desire is that my body (after death) be de = cently buried in a Christian like manner and that all my just debts be paid out of my Estate and the Balance of my worldly estate to be disposed of as follows -- Item, I give and bequeath to William Allen one dollar in Cash having heretofore given to him all that I ever intend = ed to give -- Item, I give and bequeath to my son in law John Niblitt one dollar in Cash having heretofore given him all I ever intended to give -- Item, I give and bequeath to Buckner Williams one dollar in Cash having heretofore given him all I ever intended to give -- Item, I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Sally Ann Elizabeth Williams one negro girl named Phebee about fourteen years of age but should the said Sally Ann Elizabeth Williams die without Issue then and in that event the said negro girl Phebee to revert to my Children named hereafter in the last Division. Item, All the residue of my Estate that may remain at my decease, both real mixt and personal shall be sold by my executors hereafter named in the following man = ner (to wit). all the perishable property on a credit of twelve months the mixt estate on a credit of twelve months and all my real estate on a credit of three years to be paid in three equal instalments. My said executors are hereby authorised and required to make deeds of conveyance to the pur 248) = chasers of said real or mixt estate sold by them as aforesaid and the proceeds arising from said sale as aforesaid to be equaly divided between my wife Sarah Adams, - Thomas Adams, William Adams, Abner Adams, Richard H. Adams, Martha H. Barry, Dorothy D. Yeats, Rebecca Binkley and Louiser W. Darden after my executors paying to Richard H. Adams fifty dollars & to Dorothy D. Yeats seventy five dollars, which is intended to make them equal with the balance of my Children in the first Division - and after said division is made that part which may fall to my Daughters, before mentioned is only the proceeds thereof, to insure to them during their natural life and at their death to be equally divided betw = een their children and other heirs forever should the husbands of either of my Daughters aforesaid purchase any of my property on the day of sale made by my execu = tors then and in that case my executors before delivering the property so purchased require them or either of them to give bond and security payable to said Executors conditioned for the safe keeping and delivery of said property over to the children of my daughters at their death -- Item, Lastly I nominate and appoint my trusty friends Henry Frey, Richard Cheatham and William Seal my Exec = utors to this my last Will and testament hereby revok = eing and disanulling all former Wills by me made In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my my hand and affixed my seal this 8th day of August 1827 Test his { } Charles Cobbs William X Adams {Seal} Thomas Cobbs mark { } Robertson County Court February Term 1828 This last Will and testament of William Adams dec'd was proven in open Court by the oath of Charles Cobbs & Thomas Cobbs subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
