Lasiter to John Bottom Title Bond I Samuel H. Lasiter do bind myself to pay John Bottom the sum of Five hundred dollars for which payment I will and truly bind myself my heirs and assigns this 24th day of Dec. 1840. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Samuel H. Lasiter has this day sold unto the said John Bottom for the sum of Five hundred & thirty dollars a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Rutherford and State of Tennessee district No. 16. Bounded as follows beginning at three cedars on Thomas Dillon’s line, thence thirty six poles to a white oak and hickory thence one hundred poles with Stephen Cook line to a white ash and elm, thence north one hundred and twenty five poles with James Blackwoods line to a mulberry tree north east and south so as to include five acres that said Lasiter bought of William Donoho, deceased. Now if the said Lasiter his heirs or assigns do well and truly make to the said Bottoms his heirs and assigns a good and sufficient deed in fee simple to the above recited tract of land, then the above obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue this day and date above written. Morris, Clerk Transcribers note: John Rayen could be John Raynes/Rains whom I believe to be a son-in-law of John Bottom. Thomas D. Bottoms according to my records is not listed in any other record anywhere. If someone knows who he is, I would appreciate it. In 1840, there was a Thomas Bottoms in Lincoln County, Tennessee that would be somewhere between 60-100 miles away.
