Samuel H. Lasiter to John Bottoms - Deed 51 acres



This Indenture made and entered into this 19th day of July 1841 between Samuel 

H. Lassiter of the County of Wilson and State of Tennessee of the one part and 

John Bottoms of the County of Rutherford and State aforesaid of the other part 

witnesseth that the said Samuel H. Lassiter for and consideration of the Sum 

of Two hundred and thirty dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Bottoms 

the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold 

confirmed and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell convey 

and confirm to the said John Bottoms a certain tract or parcel of land situate 

lying and being in the said County of Rutherford on the waters of Bradley’s 

Creek and bounded as follows viz: Beginning on a cedar and post oak on Elias 

Butler;s North and South line; thence running South Sixty poles to a white oak 

and Hickory, thence West Ninetysix poles to an Elm and white ash; thence North 

One hundred and twenty three poles to a Mulberry on the West Side of a Small 

branch, Thence croping said branch to the beginning, containing fifty one 

acres be the same more or less – To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of 

land and bargained premises together with all and singular the appurtenances 

and hereditaments thereunto belonging to the said John Bottoms his heirs and 

assigns forever and the said Samuel H. doth hereby covenant and agree to 

warrant and defend the title of said land and bargained premises to the said 

John Bottoms against the claim or claims of any other person or persons 

whatsoever. In testimony whereof the Said Samuel H. Lassiter hath here unto 

Set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first above written.

State of Tennessee ) Personally appeared before me Robert S. Morris Clerk of the

Rutherford County  ) County Court of said county the foregoing named Samuel H. 

Lassiter the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged 

that he executed the foregoing deed for the purposes therein contained.
