G. S. Newsom To John Bottoms

Deed – 51 acres.



This Indenture made and entered into by and between G. S. Newsom of the one 

part and John Bottoms of the other part, both of the County of Rutherford and 

State of Tennessee, witnesseth, that I the Said G. S. Newsom for and in 

consideration of the Sum of One hundred and forty five dollars to me paid by 

the Said John Bottoms do bargain, Sell, and Transfer to him a certain tract or 

parcel of land lying and being in the County of Rutherford in District No. 16 

& bounded as follows, Beginning on a cedar and post oak on Elias Butler’s 

North and South line running South Sixty poles to a white oak & hickory, 

thence west Ninety Six poles to an elm & white ash, thence north one hundred 

and twenty three poles to a mulberry on the west side of a Small branch, then 

crossing said branch to the beginning, containing fifty one acres more or 

less; To have and to hold to him the said John Bottoms. And I the Said G. S. 

Newsom do bind myself to warrant and forever defend the right and title to 

the above described land with the improvements thereon and every thing 

appertaining thereunto to him the said John Bottoms and his heirs and assigns 

from all claims of any person or persons; In Testimony whereof I do hereunto 

Set my hand & Seal this 25th day of July 1845.

State of Tennessee   )Personally appeared before me Robert S. Morris Clerk of

Rutherford County    )	the County Court of said County, Henry W. Fagan and 

James Jordan subscribing witnesses to the within deed who being first sworn 

depose and say they are acquainted with the within named G. S. Newsom the 

bargainer and that he acknowledged to the same in their presence to be his act 

and deed upon the day it bears date, Witness my hand at office this 5th day of 

January 1846.
