Keys State of Tennessee Rutherford County Know all men by these present that I David Ballew of the County and State aforesaid for the consideration of two hundred and seventy five dollars to me in hand paid, hath this 16th day of April 1821, bargained sold and delivered and by these present do bargain sell and deliver to Eliza C. Keys of the County and State aforesaid, a negro girl slave named Sarah about nine years old, which girl slave I warrant to be a sound healthy girl and free from any impediment whatsoever, and the right and title of said negro girl I warrant and defend from myself, my heirs, from all other lawful claims of any person whatsoever to the said Eliza Keys for her heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th day of April 1821. Test: John L.
