All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Paula Norman Snyder paulas1218@aol.com February 13, 2009, 12:58 am Written: September 13, 1820 Recorded: October 1825 From Rutherford County Archives Courthouse, Suite 301 Murfreesboro, TN 37130 Record Book Q pp. 351-352 No. 312 Alexander McCulloch To Deed, 100 acres Willie Ballard This indenture made this thirteenth day of September Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and twenty, between Alexander McCulloch of the State of Alabama, Lawrence County on the one part, and Willie Ballard of the County of Rutherford & State of Tennessee on the other part, witnesseth, that the said Alexander McCulloch for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and sixty four dollars fifty cents to him in hand paid by said Willie Ballard, the receipt whereof the said Alexander McCulloch do herby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfaoffed, confirmed and by the use of presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfaoff, confirm unto him the said Willie Ballard his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situated, lying & being in the aforesaid County of Rutherford on Cripple Creek whereon the said Ballard now lives, being part of a one thousand acre tract granted by the State of North Carolina to …Armstrong, containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows viz. Beginning at an ash tree standing in a Branch eighty poles East of the south west corner of the original survey (a Black oak) thence running from the ash East with the old line (crossing Cripple Creek) one hundred and forty two poles to a Cedar, thence north ninety poles to a Hickory, thence west crossing Cripple Creek two hundred and twelve poles to a small Cedar standing betwixt an Elm, Cedar Chingupin oak, from thence south 39+ - 15 East to the beginning. To have and to hold the said above granted land with all the premises & appertenances to him the said Willie Ballard his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Alexander McCulloch for himself & his heirs shall and will at all times warrant & forever defend the title of said land with all the appertenances unto him the said Willie Ballard free from the claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever. The witness whereof he the said Alexander McCulloch hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first with written.
