Know ye, that in consideration of military service performed by Daniel Poe to the State of North Carolina, Warrant No. 3998 dated the 25th day of November 1796 and entered on the 12th day of July 1797 by No. 7709 there is noted by the said state of Tennessee unto John Davis and Jonathan F. Robertson assignees of the heirs of the said Daniel Poe a certain tract or parcel of land containing six hundred and forty acres lying in Rutherford County in the first District on Overalls Creek, waters of Stones River – beginning at a hickory and ash, Henry Holmes southeast corner, then northwest Holmes line five hundred and sixty three poles to an ash then east one hundred and sixty two poles to an elm and dogwood in Thomas Armstrong’s west boundary and then south with said line five hundred and sixty three poles to a post oak and dogwood then west one hundred and eighty two poles to the beginning. Surveyed the 27th day of July 1808 with the hereditaments and appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said John Davis and Jonathan F. Robertson and their heirs forever in witness where of John Sevier Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the state to be affixed at Knoxville on the first day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine and of the Independence of the United States the thirty fourth. By the Governor, John Sevier R.C. Houston, secretary John Davis and Jonathan F. Robertson are entitled to the within mentioned tract of land. D.W.
