Written: October 21, 1828 Recorded: October 25, 1828 Will Bk 7, Pg 289-290: " October 25th, 1828, The following is the last verbal will and Testament of Eden Donnel of the County of Rutherford & State of Tennessee, delivered in the presence of Jesse Alexander and Mary Weatherly. 1 My will that my funeral expencez be paid. 2nd That my mother chose one man of respectable Character & my Wife another and these two men if they think proper will chose a third. That these men divide my property into three equal parts and that my mother have one third, my wife a third and my Children a third. That my mothers part go to my children at her death and if convenient that it be appropriated to the education of my children. It is my wish if practicable that my sons have a liberal education and my daughter a good English education. State of Tennessee Rutherford County, This day personable appeared Jesse Alexander before me I, John Witherspoon, an acting Justice of the Peace for said County and Being duly sworn he deposeth and saith that the above is the verbal will of Eden Donnell on the 21st day of October 1828 and that he was in a sound State of mind to the best of my knowledge. Sworn to and subscribed before me on the 25th day of October 1828. Test John Witherspoon, JP Jesse Alexander State of Tennessee Rutherford County This day personally appeared Mary Weatherly before Henry Goodloe one of the acting justices of the peace for said County and being duly sworn deposeth and sayeth the verbal will as above stated is the verbal will of the above named Eden Donnell, dec'd. I myself being present and called on as a witness the 21st day of October 1828 and that he was as I believe in his wright mind sworn to and subscribed the 25th day of October 1828. Additional Comments: I am in a quandry as to the parentage of this man...All I know is that his mother's name was Jane Donnell...Have also seen name spelled Donel or Donal...Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
