WILLIAM HENRY KING William Henry KING, son of George KING Sr. and Rebecca SLAUGHTER KING, was born 18 January 1832 and died 9 October 1912. On 16 January 1851 he married Jane (Jennie) HEADRICK, daughter of James HEADRICK and Minerva STEPHENSON HEADRICK. Jane HEADRICK was born 13 October 1832 and died 10 June 1925. Henry and Jane KING are buried in Mattox Cemetery, Wear's Valley, Sevier County TN. Henry KING was a Union soldier in the Civil war, Cpl Co. E, Second Tennessee Calvary and was discharged on 16 July 1865. He and Jane had 12 children, six before the war and six after. They lived their entire life in Wear's Cove and were members of Wear's Valley Baptist Church of which he made every sacrifice to help build. It was finished in 1886. He served as Justice of the Peace for 21 years. He was one of the founders of KING SCHOOL, located on KING property, where the children of upper Wear's Cove attended classes. The old schoolhouse was torn down in 1925, having stopped operating three years before. The house stood in a field southwest of Jim HEADRICKS', on property owned by John W. KING at his death in 1941 and heired by his son, George A. KING. Discharge Handwritten: A true copy of discharge To whom it may concern Know ye, that William H. King a Coropal of Captian Thomas A. Company B. 2nd Regiment of Tennessee County (?) volunteers, who enrolled on the fifteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty two, to serve three years of during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States the sixth day of July 1865 at Nashville Tennessee by reason of G.O. No. 38 H. LEILLY, 8th 1860 No objection to his being reenlisted is known to exist Said William H. King was born in Sevier County in the state of Tennessee, is thirty three years of age, 5foot 8 inches high fair complexion blue eyes Light hair, and by occupion, when enrolled a Farmer Given at Nashville Tenn this Sixth day of July 1866 L.W.
