They migrated to Sevier County, Tn and settled in an area that was named Catlettsburg where they raised a family. The only known child of John and Mary Catlett is John P. Catlett. They had several other children, unknown at this time. John Catlett was a carpenter and a farmer. John died intestate on April 11, 1862. Following is the probate and estate record for his Estate: (From Record Book at Sevier County Courthouse 1862-63). State of Tennessee County of Sevier Austin Mott and William Low were appointed administrators of the Estate 6 June 1862 and then this entry is crossed out and the following is found: Monday July 7th 1862 It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that John Catlett late of Sevier County died intestate having at the time of his death Goods & Chattles rights & credits and Joshua H. Atchley appeared in open court and entered into bond in the sum of five thousand dollars with David Murphy, Abner W. Low & W.F. Nichols as his securities and was duly sworn in open court and thereupon the following letters of administration issued to him, to wit: State of Tennessee Sevier County To Joshua H. Atchley greeting whereas it has been represented to us in our County Court held for the County of Sevier, at the Courthouse in Sevierville on the 1st Monday of July that John Catlett, late of said County had died Intestate, having whilst living and at the time of his death goods and chattles and credits the ordering and granting Administration whereof doth appertain unto us, and we being desirous that the said goods & chattles rights & credits may be well & faithfully administered do grant unto you the said Joshua H. Atchley full power by these presents, well & truly to collect and take into your possesion all & singular the goods & chattles rights & credits which were of the said John Catlett decd. at the time of his death, wheresoever the same may be found - hereby requiring you to make or cause to be made & returned into our said Court at the next term a true & perfect Inventory of said Goods & Chattles, rights & credits and also to render a true and clear account of said Administration when thereto required.
