And first I direct that my body be decently interred at the buring ground at Salem in a manner suitable to my condition in life and as to such worldly estate as it has pleased God to entrust me with. I dispose of the same as follows: First, I direct that all my past debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as possible after my decease out of any monies that I may die posedded of or that may first come into the hands of my executors. It is my will that the proceeds of my farm and property and the use of the same be extended to the minor heirs until the youngest become of age after that time to the use and beifit of my beloved wife, Sarah (U?) Underwood during her widowhood and until her death if she should remain a widow or until that time. After her death or marriage it is my will that the lands and property be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds of the sale divided among the lawful heirs of my estate. I do make and ordain my estemed friend and neighbor Wm. H. Oglesby and my beloved wife Sarah executors of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Hiram Underwood have to this my last will and Testament written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this twenty-second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty six.
