Indenture between Levi and Martha Bostick and David Greenlaw 14 Nov 1828 Book B, p. 159, Deed Records of Shelby County, Tennessee This Indenture made and entered into this 14th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight Between LEVI BOSTICK and MARTHA 'his wife' of the one part and DAVID GREENLAW of the other part and both of the County of Shelby & State of Tennessee. Witnesseth that the said Levi Bostick and wife for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and Seventy Dollars to them in hand paid by the said David Greenlaw the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said Greenlaw his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County & state aforesaid and in Range Seven section two of the eleventh surveyors district containing Thirty-two acres being entry No. 931 in the name of William Lawrence dated 14th January 1825, and bounded as follows: beginning at the North West corner of Williams & Lawrence's 138-1/2 acre survey in the line of the 140 acre survey sold to James Jones running north Seven and one half chains to the north east corner of the 140 acres thence West six chains to a stake standing 18 links east of an elm, marked W. L. thence north seventeen and 1/2 chains to a stake standing five links north west of a sweet gum marked .W.L. thence east 15 chains 80 links to a stake standing five links east of an Iron wood marked WL, thence south 20 chains to a stake in said William's and Lawrence's line, standing 5 links south east of a Dog wood marked W.L. thence west 5 chains 80 links to the place of beginning making in all thirty two acres of Land. To have and to hold the said Land and premises with all its appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Greenlaw and his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Bostick and wife doth covenant and agree with the said Greenlaw that the before noted land and bargained premises they will forever warrant and defend against the right title interest or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever.
