MAN UNCONSCIOUS FOLLOWING FALL--Elder HYNES,30,was seriously injured in a fall,hitting his head on the curbing.A worker for International Harvester,is believed he has fractured skull. BOY MANGLED UNDER TRAIN;TRIED TO HOP TRAIN--He is Erwin TISDELL,16 years,whose right arm and shoulder were shattered Friday afternoon when he tried to hop a fast train at Woodstock.He is from Michigan. FIRST AUTO VICTIM THIS YEAR--W.C.TORIAN,30,one-man street car operator,on his way to work Saturday at 4:30 a.m.,was knocked doen by an auto under the Bellevue subway.The driver took him to the hospital,but didnot leave his name. NEW PROSECUTORS SWORN IN SATURDAY--Phil M.WALLACE and George J.COLEMAN were sworn as assistants to Attorney General W.T.McLAIN.Will GARBER was promoted to the place left vacant by John SHEA. Sworn in by Mike M.COHEN,WALLACE replaces C.P.J. MOONEY,Jr.SHEA went into private practice with Sam BATES. WILD PARTIES FLOORED CUPID HUSBAND--He brought her home and she went in for wet,wild parties,Sam ALEXANDER says of his wife,Fannie May,in a divorce petition filed in circuit court.They were married in September 1919 and in 1924,he bought a house and gave it to her.(can't read rest of story.) MOURN DEATH OF JOSEPH NEWBURGER--Congregation Children of Israel recognize his devout faith with Resolutions. LOSE FIGHT TO GAIN CHILDREN--T.W.LYLES,the father,charged his wife with beating and cursing them;she charged he failed to support them.He once kidnapped them and took all three to Mississippi,she said. GILMORE,magazine agent. WOMAN SUED FOR INJURIES IN CRASH--Mrs.Ella SMITH filed suit in circuit court Monday against Mrs.J.W.SOUTH for $3000 damages,charging she was permanently injured when Mrs.SOUTH's car struck hers at Mississippiave & S.Parkway on November 25th.A.J.SMITH,her husband,also sued Mrs.SOUTH,asking $1,000 for the loss of hiswife's services,repairs on her car,and her doctor bill. GUARD SLAYER OF 13 FROM MOB VIOLENCE--Plainview,Texas.Jan.3rd. George J.HASSEL will not be taken to Farwell,N.M,because of fear of mob violence,Sheriff Sam FAITH said.Convalescing from self-inflicted knife wounds,HASSEL was brought here following his alleged confession that he killed his family of nine on a ranch near the Texas-New Mexico line,and his first wife and three adopted children in California ten years ago. WHITFIELD TO GO HOME--Governor Henry L.WHITFIELD,of Mississippi,confined because of a recent amputation of his left leg,will leave Baptist hospital Thursday for the executive mansion at Jackson,Miss. AUTO VICTIM IMPROVES--John CLARK,74,knocked down by a hit and run driver at Union ave and Lauderdale st Saturday,was improving Monday at General hospital.His injuries are not serious. YOUTH IS HELD AS "BICYCLE BANDIT."--A 21 year-old boy (not named) was arrested by police as being the bandit who stole $1900 payroll of Pidgeon-Thomas Iron Co.,from R.E.BECKER,messanger.He was arrested after V.K. ATHERSON,19,went to police headquarters and claimed a bicycle found at the hold-up scene.He told Inspector Will GRIFFIN he lent it to the youth being held.Police searched ATHERSON and found a pistol on him. MEMPHIS WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH--Mrs.Harriet Lucille LEE,wife of W.C. LEE,of Memphis,was killed,and C.C.BERRYHILL seriously injured near Little Rock late Sunday when their car left the road and plunged into a ditch. Mrs.LEE's neck was broken.The LEES lived with Mrs.Jennie EPPERSON,197 S.Lauderdale st,and had packed their baggage to leave Memphis Saturday,Mrs.EPPERSON says.LEE left Memphis Monday to identify and claim the body. PROBE ANOTHER POLICE "BEATING."--Another complaint of policemen beating citizens with pistols are being investigated Monday by Police Chief Joe BURNEY.Patrolman J.M.McDANIELS has been accused of slugging a 17-year-old youth with his pistol.He denies the charges.The youth,Morris FOLEY,student,of 914 Arkansas st,was arrested for drunkeness.According to the story told by FOLEY,he and two other boys were arrested on charges of being drunk by Patrolmen J.K.CROSS and McDANIEL.The FOLEY complaint comes on the heels of an assault made on two Press-Scimitar reporters in the Peabody Thursday night.Guns and fists were used on the reporters by Detective Lieut.Lee QUIANTHY and Hotel Dectective Sam EMBERTON,they say. GIRL HIT BY AUTO;SLIGHTLY INJURED--Sunday night when struck by an auto while crossing the street in front of her home,Edith McCASEY,4, of Central av,was improving at her home Monday.Her parents witnessed the accident.Luther WILSON,negro,the driver of the car was not arrested. URGES NEGROES TO BUY OR BUILD HOMES--Rev.J.M.WILLIAMSON says work and sleep are best to make healthy,more dependable and law abiding negroes.Thomas SMITH,Rev.Charley HOUSE,Rev.R.BRYANT,and other leading negroes took part in the meeting. COUNTY GIVES UP 'EYE DOCTOR'--"Doctor"J.D.CONNERS,alias HARRIS,alias HARPER,was freed of charges of larceny by trick,scheme and obtaining money under false pretenses on payment of costs in second criminal court Monday,and sent to Millington,Tenn.,for trial on similar charges.CONNERS,who with an accomplice posed as an eye doctor,was charged with taking $361 from Mrs.M.LOWDERMILK,her entire life savings for an operation to remove a cataract from her eye.The operation was never performed. DEATH;OLIVIA B.ROGERS--funeral services for Mrs.Olivia B.ROGERS were conducted by Bishop Thomas F. GAILOR at the residence of Mrs.James F. BEASLEY,McLean Blvd at 11 a.m.Monday.Interment in Elmwood cemetery.Mrs.ROGERS is survived by a sister,Mrs.T.J.RICHARDSON of Koshkonog,Mo. DEATH;MARY HUTCHINSON--Funeral services for Mrs.Mary HUTCHINSON were conducted by Monsigner P.L.
