"Recorded 13th October 1818 THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, NO. 11973 TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, GREETING: KNOW YE, that by virtue of part of certificate No. 1186 dated the 21st day of August 1812 issued by the Register of West Tennessee to John C. McLemore & James Vaulx & entered on the 27th day of August 1812 by No. 8772 There is granted by the said State of Tennessee unto Samuel Gibson assignee of the said John C. McLemore & James Vaulx A certain tract or Parcel of Land, containing ten acres by survey bearing date the 5th day of August 1814 lying in Smith County in the first district, on the North side of Woolf Creek & bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at a sugar tree running thence west fifty six poles to a [cy ] crossing said creek at about twenty five poles, from thence south twenty eight & one half poles to a hornbeam, thence East fifty six poles to a [beech?], thence North twenty eight & one half poles to the Beginning: including the imp[? ] where said Gibson now lives. With the hereditaments and appertenances. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with its appertenances to the said Samuel Gibson and his heirs forever. In witness whereof Joseph McMinn Governor of the state of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the great seal of the state to be affixed at Knoxville on the 25th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen and of the Independence of the United States, the 42nd.
