His name appears on the 1832 list as a resident of Smith County and in the 1840 Census as of De Kalb County. He was born in 1760 in Sussex County, N. J., son of Johannes and Catherine Fite. He enlisted in Essex County, N. J., and served in the N. J., line. He married in 1781 Margaret (Peggy) Cross, born 1761, died 1842. He died in 1842 in De Kalb County, Tennessee.
