Called for corresponding letters from our sister associations. Eld. E. Hunt, from the Sweetwater Association being present and having no letter, but it appearing from their Minutes that he was duly appointed, he therefore was invited and took a seat with us. E.W. Brazzeal write, and Eld. L.H. Wheat bear the same to them when convened at New Providence Meeting house, Monroe county, on Friday before the 4th Saturday in September 1853. Received a letter from Tenn. Association by the hands of her Delegates, Humphrey Mount and C.E. Pate, who took seats with us. Eld. W.H. Williams write and Eld. L.H. Wheat bear the same to them when convened at Hopewell Meeting house, Jefferson County, Tennessee, on Friday before the 1st Saturday in Oct. 1853. One from Ocoee by her Delegates, Elder George Lutterell, A. Hannah and Wm. Snow who took seats with us. John Wilson write and J. Gibson, A. Newport, N. Burnett and J. Peak bear the same to them when convened at Good Spring Meeting House Hamilton County Tenn., Friday before the 1st Saturday in October 1853. Also one from Powells Valley Association by her Delegates C. Webb, C. Mitchel and J. Long who were invited and took seats with us. Elder A. Newport write and John Deaver, S. Mathis and Levi Seaber bear the same to them when convened at Big Spring Church Claiborne Co Tenn. Friday before the 3rd Saturday in August 1854. Also one from Sequatchee Association by her Delegates, viz: Elds. G. Walker, J.F. Kennon, and G. Levi, who took their seats with us. Lewis Burris write to them and Elds. A. Newport, Wm. H. Williams and N. Barnett bear the same to them when convened at Concord, Dade County, Georgia; on Friday before the 3d Saturday in August 1854. Appointed R. Worthington, A. Newport, L.H. Wheat, L. Seaber and S. Haggard, together with the Moderator and Clerks, a Committee of Arrangements which were to report on Saturday morning; (also invited Corresponding Delegates to assist.) Appointed L. Burris and J.A. Barnard to receive the Churches contribution and report to-morrow morning. Appointed one Delegate from each Church, together with the Brethren of Beech Fork a Committee to arrange the preaching during the Association and report to-morrow morning. Invited visiting Brethren in the Ministry to seats with us, and Brother Sabert Rich being present took a seat with us. Prayer by the Moderator and then adjourned until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock. Saturday Morning, the Association met according to adjournment. Prayer by Eld. George Lutterell. Called the Roll, and the names of those absent were stricken out. The Committee on Preaching Report, that Elds. Wm. Hunt, H. Mount, and James Long preach to-day; and G. Walker, N. Barnett, and George Lutterell preach on Sabbath. Called for the Report of the committee of Arrangements, which was read and the committee discharged. Called for the Report on Finance, and they report, $14.20 Also, the Treasurer Reports that he has 7.46 Total $21.66 Hickory Creek requested the Association to take into consideration the situation of Smyrna Church, which was done, and after an investigation of the condition of said Church, we think it expedient and do request Hickory Creek, Pleasant Hill, Poplar Spring, and Cave Creek Churches to meet with Smyrna Church, by delegates, as often as they think necessary; and for Hickory Creek to report the condition of said Church to our next Association. The Association took into consideration our large Correspondence and the inconvenience of continuing the same; but after consulting on the same, we think it expedient to continue our present Correspondence. Beech Fork asked for a Union meeting which was granted, - to commence Friday before the 4th Saturday in August, 1854; M.H. Sellers, A. Newport, and L.H. Wheat to attend the same. Fellowship and Short Creek petitioned for Union meetings, which was granted; to commence at Fellowship on Friday before the first Saturday in August 1854; L.B. Johnson, M.H. Sellers, N. Barnett, and A. Newport to attend the same. To commence at Short Creek on Friday before the 2d. Saturday in April 1854; M.H. Sellers, J. Deaver, L.B. Johnson, and A. Newport to attend the same. Our next Association will be held at Concord, Meigs County, Tennessee; to commence on Friday before the third Saturday in September, 1854; and we appoint Levi Seabers to preach the next Introductory Sermon, and in case of failure, L.H. Wheat to supply. We agree to have 600 copies of our Minutes printed, and that our Assistant Clerk superintend the printing and distribution thereof; and that he draw from the Treasurer funds necessary to defray the expense of the same; also, three dollars for his services; also, our Principal Clerk to be allowed two dollars for recording our Minutes. Corresponding letters to our sister Associations called for, read, received and ordered to be signed by the Moderator and Clerk. We agree to divide $10 among the delegates that bear our corresponding letters. We ask the Churches to send in their letters to our next Association their wishes to the Association hereafter adjourning unfinished business on Friday evening until Monday in order that Saturday and Sunday may be devoted to preaching, &c.
