Wetherton, Lebanon, KY - $8.00 Minutes of the Forty-Second Annual Meeting of the Hiwassee Baptist Association, held at Zion Meeting House, Rhea County, Tenn., Friday before the 4th Saturday in September, 1864, and following days. Elder J.B. McCallon preached the Introductory Sermon from Gallations, 3rd chapter and the 26th verse, for ye are all the children of God, by faith in Christ Jesus; after which letters from nine churches were read. Churches and their Delegates: Fellowship: F.Brady, J.R. Hollomon, M. Brady, J. Johnson - 42 members Pisgah: Geo. P. Owens, M.E. Jones, M. Spradling, Wm. Wann - 74 members Zion: S. Breeding, G. Wade, A.D. Paul - 41 members Cave Creek: No delegates, Rob't Reed brought letter - 64 members Hinds Valley: Asa Newport, Carter Hickey, J.R. Hinds - 31 members Shilo: A.D. Morrison, D. Jolly - 168 members Concord: J.B. McCallon, K. Edgeman, I. Walker, E. Odom, T. Odom, T. Gallant - 133 members Little Emory: No delegates, Rob't Reed brought letter - 17 members Smyrna: Robert Reed - 17 members Asa Newport chosen Moderator, and James Johnson, Clerk. No letter nor delegates from Sequatchie; we being desirous to keep up correspondence with her, appoint Elder J.B. M'Callon to write to them; himself, Elder G.G. Parker, brethren Dudly Jolly, W.S. Green and James Johnson to bear same to them, 1865. No news from Powell's Valley and Allen D. Morris appointed to write to them; himself, Asa Newport, A.D. Paul and Rob't Reed to bear same to them, 1865. Committee Appointments: Unfinished Business: Mortimore Spradling, Dudley Jolly, J.B. M'Callon, Farley Brady, Rob't Reed Finance: A.D. Paul and Thomas Odom Preaching: One delegate from each church Today, Elders A.D. Morrison and J.B. M'Callon; tonight, Asa Newport and J.B. M'Callon; Sunday, Asa Newport, A.D. Morrison, and J.B.
