Resolved, that we employ a missionary colporter to travel in our association and sell Bibles, books and other religious literature and preach and distribute good religious tracts among our people ........ and that all our churches be required to take regular collections for this support ..... Shiloh Church requested that letter of advice written by J.J. Butler, deceased, be placed in Minutes. Next meeting at Fellowship. 1000 copies of Minutes to be printed. Bro. R.R. Obituaries Savannah Johnson - Paint Rock Church mourns the loss of Sister Savannah Johnson who departed this life August 20, 1906, aged 25 years. Had lived a constant member for 14 years. Also Jessie Carrol, who departed this life April 23, 1906, age 18 years. Had been a constant member for 5 years. Emma Hicks - Sister Emma Hicks was born Sept. 16, 1837, joined Shiloh Church by experience on the 4th Saturday in August, 1881, having lived a devoted and true Christian nearly 25 years. God in His infinite wisdom called her gentle spirit back to the one who gave it. Died March 15, 1906, age 68 years, 6 months and 29 days. J.R Qualls - Hinds Valley mourns the loss of Bro. J.R. Qualls who was born May 6, 1869, and died June 30, 1906. He united with the Baptist Church at Hinds Valley, 1896. Bro. Qualls, by accident June 6, had his back broken by falling slate in the ore mines. During his long suffering he never complained or never murmured about anything and expressed the willingness to go, saying the way was clear. If Bro. Qualls found fault with any one he never expressed them. May he rest in peace. Lena Guffie - born Nov 19, 1832, died August 22,1906. A member of the Shiloh Church about 58 years. W.E. Pope -born at Stockton, Tenn., Oct 4, 1846, converted and united with the Baptist Church at Paint Rock, Roane County, Tennessee, 3rd day of September, 1863, married to L.V. Galyon on the 14th day of November, 1867. There were born to this union nine children, six boys and three daughters. Bro. Pope was a faithful father and husband. He was ordained to the full work of the ministry the 6th day of August, 1881. After a life devoted to the cause of the Master the last few years were full of suffering. He had very little of this world's goods, but was rich in the faith, continually rejoicing in a Savior's love. On Nov. 3, 1905, the end came, peacefully fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his family transplanted from a humble cottage to a mansion in the sky. J.J. Butler - Shiloh Church mourns the loss of Bro. J.J. Butler who was born Feb. 22, 1829 (printed as 1929 -EC) and departed this life March 29, 1906, aged 77 years, 1 month and 7 days, was received into the Baptist Church of Christ at Pisgah, Meigs County, Tenn., by experience and baptism September 1857, and was dismissed by letter from that body third Sabbath in June, 1868, and joined Shiloh Church by letter on Friday before the fourth Saturday in May 1858, making a church record of near 50 year.
