Died Sept. 22, 1915. Age 58 yrs, 5 mo. 15 days. She was married to Roland Dixon as the man of her choice as husband Aug. 12, 1876. They ever lived a happy life. She was a model Christain, wife and mother; she said "I don't fear death, I want you all to meet me in heaven." She gave the family some good advice to be good and not go astray. The funeral was conducted by Eld. I. E. Culvahouse her former Pastor, before a large audience in the church house at Paint Rock, the church she loved so well. Sister Dixon was a bright light in this world of Jesus. Old Friendship Church Since our last annual meeting one of our beloved sisters has been called from the church militant to the church triumphant. Sister Sarah Fine Ewing, formerly Barnard, was born in Roane Co., Tenn.m July 7, 1841; was united in marriage to A. C. Ewing, March 25, 1858. this union was blessed with four children, 3 boys and 1 girl, all of whom are living. Sister Ewing joined the Baptist Church at Shiloh by experience and baptism 4th. Sat. in May 1857, and in Nov. 1890 she joined Old Friendship church by letter. She was a faithful and devoted member of this body until her death which occured April 14, 1915, in the 74th. yr. of her age. She was a member of the Church for about 58 years, a devoted wife, a tender loving mother, and was ever ready to administer to the wants of the poor needy that came her way. She ardently loved the church, and was faithful to attend her church service. As a Christain mother she sought to lead her children into the golden paths of wisdom and holiness. To be brief, Sister Ewing's deportment in every relation of life was a display of blended virtues, a scene of practical religion worthy the emulation of every christian, she left us the consoling evidence that all was well, as she grew near the gates of death, she expressed herself as resigned to God's will and ready to depart and be with the Lord. Her last words on earth was, "The Lord's will be done," doubtless she saw by an eye of faith her blissful home beyond the river, and heard the welcome applause, "Come in ye blest of my Father." Sister Ewing is not dead, but sleepeth. By the Church Clerk (W.R. Clack) FELLOWSHIP CHURCH Bro. James Lemons was born April 4, 1856, died March 27, 1915. Bro. Lemons united with Pleasant Hill baptist church by experience and baptism, during a protracted meeting which continued more than ten days from the 4th. Sat. in Oct. 1892. He joined Fellowship church 1st. Sat. in May 1908, on a letter of recomendation from Concord church. Bro. Lemons lived an exemplary christian life, a devoted church member, a kind affectionate Husband & Father, a good citizen, & neighbor, whose presence is sadly missed by his family, by the church, and by a host of relation & acquaintances. We feel sad to give him up, but rejoice that he died in triumph of a living faith. Sister Maggie Lee Davis, nee, Inman was born Mar. 12, 1894, died Nov., 1, 1914. Sister Davis made a profession of faith in Christ when about 11 years of age. She joined Fellowship church in Aug. 1914 and on the 16th day of that months she obeyed the command and followed the example of her saviour in the ordinance of baptism. Many who saw her that day will never forget how she rejoiced in a Saviour's love, as she came up from the water. Our visions are too short to comprehend why one so young and so consecrated should be taken from us, but let us always remember that our Heavenly Father knoweth best and let us bow in humble submission to his holy will. Resolved that the church extend her deepest sympathy to the bereaved husband & sorrowing parents, brothers and sisters, and commend them to Jesus who is a refuge and strength in ever time of need. May the family thus broken be one united family around God's throne. MACEDONIA CHURCH Sister Jane Eblen, nee, Waller was born Oct. 17, 1856, married S.L. Eblen July 11, 1877. To this union was born 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls; 5 of whom are still living. She was left a widow Jan. 8, 1895, to care of and raise her children, she professed hope in Christ and joined the Baptist church over thirty-five years ago; lived a faithful christian till death which occured Jan. 19, 1915, age 59 years. In her last sickness she often expressed a desire to be absent from the body & present with the Lord. Body was laid to rest in Macedonia Cemetery J.L. Waller, G.H. Moore, Committee TEN MILE CHURCH It is with sadness that we pen the death of one of our loved sister, Mrs. Delra Peak, who joined the Baptist church at Ten mile in 1868, who was ever faithful to her church, and obedient to her Lord. Sister Peak was born Jan. 19, 1850, married Thomas Peak Jan. 5, 1869, died April 21, 1915. Her funeral was conducted by her pastor Eld. J.A. Roberson, at Pinhook & the body laid away in the family burrying ground, beside her husband to await the ressurection of the first. She was a most excellent christian woman, a true God given help-mate to her husband, a loving, kind, devoted mother, a friend & neighbor to all. She suffered many sore trials, and bitter afflictions but never lost faith in her Lord, upon whom she leaned for daily strength and need. Besides a host of friends and relation, she leaves four children, a no. of grand children to mourn her departure. While we mingle our prayer with the bereaved ones, we could point them to her Lord, the loving comforter and ask him to heal their broken hearts. There's a loved form to our vision lost, A voice on earth is still; But the river death is crossed, A place in Heaven filled. On Sept. 28, while at church, where she never missed an opportunity to meet and worship, God lovingly laid his hands upon her, and said it is enough, and late in the afternoon of the same day the spirit took it's flight from it's tabernacle of clay and went home to God. For twelve years she has worked & labored with us, and was always so ready and willing to do what she could for her master. We are thankful that her going was so glorious, and as she desired without pain or sickness. Mrs. A.F. Boggess whose maiden name was Shugart, was born Oct. 1860, died Aug. 28, 1915, professed faith in Christ when nine years old, and united with the M.E. Church South, married A.F. Boggess June 28, 1888. In 1903 she with her three children joined the baptist church at Ten Mile, where she labored so faithfully until death. We should look away from our loss to the cross and thank God for the beautiful life of service, and love of this woman. While her earthly form is not visible, we feel that her gentle influence will ever abide with us, and especially her little S.S. Class that she loved to tell about Jesus, and we pray they may never forget her loving counsel, and that God may use them for his glory. Her funeral was preached at the church by her pastor, Eld. J. A. Roberson to a large gathering of friends and loved ones and her body laid away in the family cemetery. Besides a host of friends, she leaves a husband, and three children; Mary Lee Boggess, Mrs. J. B. Ewing, and Frank Boggess to morn her death. We tender our deepest sympathy and ask God to bless and comfor them as he only can. "Life's labors are at an end, A crown has been won; God his angel did send, To bear her Spirit home." G.W. Pickle, Dr. Merritt, W.A. Ewing, M.E. Ewing, Committee PISGAH CHURCH Sister Harriett Davis at the advance age of 89 yrs. 6 mo. and 8 days, passed quietly into peaceful rest June 10, 1915, at the old homestead. She was born Dec. 2, 1825, married R.R. Davis Nov. 3, 1843. There was born to this union nine boys and five girls, twelve of whom are still living. Her funeral services were conducted by her pastor Eld. J.A. Roberson at Decatur, and her body laid to rest in the cemetery near by. She professed faith in Christ and joined the Baptist Church at Pisgah where she lived a consistant member 'till the day of her death. Where as God in his infinite love and wisdom has removed from our midst our beloved brother S.H. West, born March 14, 1873. Bro. West professed hope in Christ early in Oct. 1913, & was batpised into the fellowship of Pisgah Church and lived a constant christain the remainder of his life. Therefore be it resolved that we bow in submission to the will of our heavenly Father who doeth all things well. Second - that we extend to the bereaved wife and sorrowing family our tenderest love and heartfelt sympathy in this sad hour, and point them to the loving Saviour who careth for us. MT. ZION CHURCH Bro. John M. James was born Sept. 10, 1850, died Sept. 3, 1915, married Jan. 11, 1880, and to this union was born 9 children of whom 8 are still living, professed faith in Christ and joined the church at Mt. Zion Oct. 1879, was ordained Deacon May 1896, which position he faithfully filled until his death. CONCORD CHURCH Sister Nancy Ball professed hope in Christ about 74 years ago, at Blue Spring, she was attached to Concord Church Aug. 1869, she was a faithful member of her church as long as she was able, when she wasn't able to attend her meeting, her desire was to be there. She died June 15, 1915. She said she was ready and willing to go any time the Lord called for her. GRASSY COVE CHURCH Bro. Isiac Hood was born Aug. 23, 1868, professed hope in Christ at the age of 22, and joined the Missionary Baptist Church and lived a worthy member the rest of his life. Bro. Isiac Hood died Dec. 8, 1914. He was a kind husband and a worthy citizen. Peace to his ashes 'till called forth in the morning of the resurrection. W.H. Lemons, H.L. Monday, Committee
