W.L. Able. He was born March 7, 1845, died Dec. 24, 1919, aged 74 years, 9 months, 17 days. He professed faith in Christ in early manhood and united with White's Creek Church for several years, then until with the church at Hind's Valley the 2nd Sunday in July 1905, was ordained Deacon, Oct. 2nd, Saturday 1905 and served in that capacity 'til death. He was always prompt in his attendance at church meeting and was liberal with his means in the support of the church, always remembering his pastor, also the poor and needy, visiting them when sick or in distress. The church has lost a faithful member and a devoted Christian. He was thrice married: first to Miss Emily Narrmore, to this union three daughters were born. Second marriage, Miss Sarah Hitchew. To this union 14 children were born. Third marriage, to Miss Laura Fiker, who survives him to mourn his loss, besides five sons and five daughters, one brother and one sister and a host of grandchildren. His funeral was conducted by his pastor, W.T. West in the presence of a large congregation. His body was laid to rest in the family graveyard to await the resurrection. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." Katie Carter In memory of sister Katie Carter who was born in 1865, died April 13, 1920, age 55 years. Was married to Jack Carter and to this union five children were born, all of which survive her, except one. Her husband died a few years previous to her death. She professed faith in Christ when very young and joined the Baptist Church. She united with Hind's Valley Church by letter, Aug. 14, 1883 and was an ideal Christian and a faithful member. Her seat was seldom vacant at church. The church has sustained an irreparable loss but our loss is her gain. May the dear Lord comfort the five sorrowing children and may they walk in her foot steps. "Although in gaining Heaven she leaves a vacant chair, we're sure, with a crown of glory, she fills another there.." Mary Treadway Hind's Valley church mourns the loss of sister Mary Treadway, who departed this life Oct. 31, 1919, was a member of Hind's Valley church about thirty years. She leaves five sons and one daughter to mourn her loss, but their loss is her eternal gain. Funeral services were conducted at the home of her son in Rockwood. She was buried at Newport Graveyard in Rhea County, Tenn. Fall Creek Church Mary Ann Brown Fall Creek Church mourns the loss of our sister Mary Ann Gibson Brown better known as "Aunt Ann." She professed faith in Christ in her youth and was one of the constitutional members of this church which was organized in October 1890 and was a faithful member 'till death. Sister Brown was one among the millions who fell a victim to death by influenza. Blesed are the dead who die in the Lord. A.L. DeRossett Fall Creek church mourns the death of Bro. A.L. DeRossett who was born May 11, 1859. Died Oct 29, 1919. Was united in marriage to Miss Virginia C. Hollaway, Feb. 21, 1883. To this union there were 8 children born, two of whom died in infancy. His wife preceded him to the grave 20 years. Bro. DeRossett professed faith in Christ in his youth, was united at once to the Baptist Church at Haley's Grove, by experience and baptism. Later he joined Bethel Church, Sept. 1899, second Saturday. He joined Fall Creek Church by letter. He was one of our leading and supporting members of the church, was always prompt in attendance at church meeting as much as possible.. He served the church as clerk a little over eleven years. His greatest pleasure was to hear the gospel preached in its purity and power. Much more could be said in regard to the life of our departed brother but space forbids. He that goeth forth with weeping, bearing precious seed, shall come again rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. He leaves to mourn his loss six children, three sons and three daughters and many friends. James Givens Fall Creek church mourns the loss of Bro. James Givens who died Feb. 1920 aged 46 years, was united in marriage to Miss Annie Hodge and to this union were born three children two of whom died in infancy and one daughter still survives. Bro. Givens professed faith in Christ in his young manhood days. Joined the church at Fall Creek by experience and baptism the 3rd Saturday in Nov. 1890, one month after the constitution of the church. He is one of our oldest members, not in years but in membership and was a faithful member until death. Bro. Givens was an invalid for about 15 years but he bore his affliction with patience. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, a daughter, two brothers, five sisters, and a host of friends, but our loss is his gain. Seventeen sunny summers had scarcely gone by when God in his infinite wisdom called that young and gentle spirit home Jan. 25, 1919. Aged 17 years, 2 months and 27 days. This is a true revelation that God who doeth all things well, taketh the young as well as the aged. Man hardly breathes the breath of life and catches its inspirition until he passes in turn for others to rise up and take his place. Emeline Williams Sister Emelyn Huff Bailey was born 1837, married John T. Williams April 1857. To this union were born nine children; five of whom survive her. Her husband having preceded her in the great beyond in 1875. Sister Williams departed this life at a ripe old age of 82 years. Lydia Kinney Sister Lydia Bailey was born Oct. 20, 1845. Was married to Eldridge Kinney Sept 22, 1864. God said to her, "Thy earthly work is done, come home" and that spirit went back to the one who gave it Oct. 14, 1918, aged about 73 years. Her husband departed this life in 1882. We loathe to give her up, but humbly bow our heads in submission to our Master's will. Though she is gone, she lives on with us in influence and cherished memory.
