GRIMES to E. Smith 40 acres Roll #67 page 94-100 Book 6 STEWART COUNTY State Archives and Manuscript Section Nashville, TN 37219 This indenture made this 5th day of May 1819 between GEORGE Grimes of the county of STEWART (State of Tennessee) of the one part and Edwin Smith of the county of State of the aforesaid. Witnesses for and in consideration of the sum of $250.00 to the said George Grimes in hand paid by the said Smith at or before the sealing and delivering of these present the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge he the said George Grimes has granted..... A certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of STEWART and state aforesaid and bounded as follows: Beginning on the Shugar tree on the south boundary of Abraham Philips entry of one hundred acres, lying on main Panthuer Creek west thirty eight (38) poles to a black oak thence south one hundred and six and three forths (106 3/4) poles to a stake in the open barren thence east sixty (60) poles to a stake thence north one hundred six and three forths (106 3/4) to a stake on said Philips'es line thence west to the beginning containing forty (40)acres which will more fully appear reference being haa to GRANT No 2562 by virtue of a certificate warrant No 208 dated the 1st day of August 1807 obtained from the Commissioners of West Tennessee and with the hereditament and appertenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with it appertenances to the said Smith, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Grimes and his heirs all and singular the presence ...
