Etherington ROACHEL to John SMITH
10 Dec. 1817

This Indenture made this tenth Day of December in the year of Our Lord One Thousand
eight hundred and 
seventeen between Etherington ROACHEL of the State of Tennessee County of Stewart of
the one part and 
John SMITH of the aforesaid State & County of the other part Witnesseth that the
said E. ROACHEL for and in 
consideration of the sum of three hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt
whereof is hereby 
acknowledged hat and by these presents Doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien enforce and
convey unto the sd. John 
SMITH his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing One
hundred and Eleven 
Acres lying and being in the county of Stewart and State aforesaid on Grices Creek
it being a part of a —— 
five hundred acre tract formerly the property of Charles JOHNSON and Hardy VALENTINE
Beginning at Sd. 
JOHNSON & VALENTINE, South East corner running North with sd. Line eighty Six poles
to a Dogwood then 
West one hundred & fifty five poles to a Dogwood Elm? thence South forty poles to a
Dogwood & Black Gum 
thence west ninety eight poles to a Dogwood then South forty six poles to a Dogwood
and white oak in the 
South Boundary of the sd. Five hundred acre tract thence East with said line two
hundred & fifty two poles to 
the beginning with all & singular the woods waters water courses profits commodities
hereditaments & 
appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or appertaining and the
reversion and 
reversions remainder and remainders — and — thereof and all the Estate interest
property claim and demand 
of him the said E. ROACHEL his heirs& & of in and to the same and every part and
parcel thereof either in Law 
or equity to have and to hold the sd. John SMITH his heirs or assigns forever
against the Lawful title claim 
and Demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and
for ever Defend by 
these presents in Witness whereof the sd. E. ROACHEL hath hereunto set his hand and
Seal the Day and year
