He stated in his application papers that he was born September 20, 1760, in Dorchester County, Maryland. He was living in Orange County, N. C., when he enlisted for service in May or June, 1780. He served three months in Captain David Scoby's company in Colonel Taylor's North Carolina regiment. He volunteered again in January or February, 1781, and served three months in Captain Harris' North Carolina company. Several years after the close of the Revolution he moved to Crab Orchard, Ky., and one year later he moved to Lincoln County, Ky. Seven or eight years later he moved to Montgomery County, Tenn., and after living there a year he moved to Stewart County, Tenn. He gave no family data in his papers.
