Will of John Gardner Proven Jan 1842 Stewart County, TN Book Vol E p 167 In the name of God Amen. I JOHN GARDNER of the state of Tennessee and County of Stewart do make this my last will. I give and bequeath unto my wife Easter the farm on where I now live during her lifetime two beds and furniture table furniture. Also two cows and calves 1 horse (Claybank). Also one negro girl Priss during the said Easter's lifetime. The said Easter is to have provision for one year after my death. I give and bequeath unto the heirs of WALTER BOSWELL heirs say my daughter Susannah two hundred dollars. I give and bequeath unto Selia Lattimore heirs two hundred dollars. I give and bequeath to Dicey Grimes heirs two hundred dollars. I also give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Grimes heirs two hundred dollars. I also give and bequeath unto Nancy Buckingham heirs two hundred dollars. I give also to Stephen Gardner's heirs fifty dollars. I also give to my son, James, one negro boy named LUKE. After the above legacies are paid and all my just debts it is my will and desire that my daughter Sally's heirs shall have the balance. It is expressly understood that after the death of my wife, Easter, that all the property that may exist at that time is to go to my own heirs.
