SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - Sherriff to William Anderson ----¤¤¤---- Sullivan Co., TN, DB 8, p. 197: Sherriff to William Anderson Transcribed by Robert Keyes Feb 8, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972707 This Indenture made this 17th of November 1819 Between James Phagen high Sheriff of Sullivan County on the one part and William Anderson on the other part Witnesseth that whereas heretofore a Judgment was obtained in the Circuit Court of Sullivan County by John Woods [insert above] Mary Ann Woods & William Woods [end insert] against David Hughes and William Hughes & Whereas Whereas an Execution issued on said Judgment directed to the Sheriff of Sullivan Count by virtue whereof and by virtue of the power in me by law vested I the said James Phagan Sheriff as aforesaid did on the 4th day of July 1819 by my Deputy Garret F Johnson levy said Execution on a certain tract of land as the property of said David Hughes situated in said County of Sullivan and bounded as followeth Beginning at a Sourwood and Black oak on the Northern boundary of the origanal tract granted to William Hughes thence East sixty six poles to a Black oak corner to said tract thence South one hundred and thirty nine poles to a White oak thence West sixty six poles to a Black? standing near the road leading from Widow Scotts to new Bethel Meeting house thence North one hundred and thirty nine poles to the Beginning containing fifty seven acres be the same more or less and I the said James Phagan Sheriff as aforesaid by my said Deputy Garret F Johnson did advertise said tract of land for sale as the law directs and on the 14th day of August 1819 at the Court house in Blountville did expose said tract of land to the highest bidder and at said sale William Anderson became the highest bidder in consideration whereof and in consideration of the sum of thirty two dollars that being the amount the said bid to the said Garret F Johnson my Deputy in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I the said James Phagan high Sheriff of Sullivan Count By virtue of the power in me by law vested have granted bargained Sold and confirmed? unto the said William Anderson and to his heirs &c the said tract of land with every thing thereu nto belonging in as full and ample manner as I by law am authorized to convey the same to have and to hold the said piece of land with the appurtenances to the said William Anderson his heirs and assigns for ever In testamony where of I have hereunto set my hand seal the date first above men tioned Signed sealed and delivered in presence of James Phagan (seal) Sheriff of Sullivan County State of Tennessee Sullivan County Court of Pleas &c At November Sess. 1819 the execution of the within Deed of Convey ance was acknowledged in open Court by James Phagan Sherrif of Sullivan County party thereto subscribed Let it be Registered Test M?
