Keyes Jan 11, 2005 Source: FHL film# 972707 This Indenture made the fourteenth day of November eighteen hundred and fourteen Between George Webb of Sullivan County and David Looney of Smith County of the one part and Elijah Cross of Sullivan County of the other part and all of the State of Tennessee Witnesseth that the said George Webb and David Looney for a valuable consid= eration to them paid by the said Elijah Cross the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged They the said George Webb and David Looney hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Elijah Cross his heirs and assi= gns their undivided moiety Viz two thirds or one third each of of certain tracts of land situated in the County of Sullivan and bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at a White Oak on Crafts [Cross?] formerly Tygarts line on the banks of Muddy Creek thence West twenty four poles crossing Muddy Creek to James McClames corner two white oaks thence on his line South thirty four degrees West seventy poles to a White Oak thence South eighty West one hundred and fourteen poles to a Maple and Sower wood on the bank of muddy Creek thence on said line South twenty three degrees West eighty poles to two White Oaks thence South eighty degrees West eighty six poles to two White Oaks thence North five degrees West thirty poles to two White Oaks thence North thirty three degrees West sixty poles to two Sassafrasses on John Spurgin formerly Sheas line thence on said line South fifty degrees West sixteen poles to a Red Oak thence South thirty six degrees West one hundred and thirty poles to a Red Oak on Crawfords formerly Davis line thence on said line South forty three degrees East Forty poles to Kings corner three white Oaks thence on said line East three hundred and sixty eight poles to a Stake thence North twenty degrees West tow hundred and sixty poles to the Beginning containing four hundred acres be the same more or less also on other tract of land joining the above or their undivided moiety thereof Viz one third each Beginning at a white Oak Thomas Kings corner thence East sixty poles to Black Oak thence North twenty poles to a Red Oak thence East one hundred and seventy poles to a Red Oak thence South one hundred and eighty four poles to a Stake thence West one hundrid and twenty poles to a Stake then to the Beginning containing by estimation two hundred Acres be the same more or less To have and to hold to him the said Elijah Cross his heirs and assign forever all the right title claim and interest of them the said George Webb & David Looney of in and to these undivided moiety of the hereby bargained and sold premises with the appertainenses thereunto belo= nging or any wise appertaining and the said George Webb and David Looney doth for them selves their heirs &c further command and agree to and with the said Elijah Cross his heirs and assigns the aforesaid land and premises to warrant and forever defend from and against the lawful claim or claims of Any ???? person or persons whatso ever In testimoney whereof they have hereunto put their hands and seals date above written, Acknowledged in presence of Abraham Looney George Webb [seal] Elijah Cross David Looney [seal] Joseph Wm Looney State of Tennessee Sullivan County Nov'm Session 1814 The execution of the above Deed of Conveyance was proved by Elijah Cross and Joseph W Looney Witnesses thereto subscribed Let it be registered Matthew Rhea Clerk of Sullivan Cty Reg Apr 12th 1815 By his Deputy Matthew Rhea ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
