SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - John Woods to David Hughes ----¤¤¤---- Sullivan Co., TN, DB 7, p. 176: John Woods to David Hughes Transcribed by Robert Keyes Feb 25, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972707 This Indenture made this Twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen between John Woods of the County of Sullivan and State of Tennessee of the one part and David Hughes of the County of Blount and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Woods for a valuable consideration to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he the said John Woods doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold & by these presents doth grant bar= =gain & sell alien convey and confirm unto the said David Hughes a certain piece or parcel of land Situate lying & being in the County of Sullivan being part of a tract of land granted to William Hughes father of the said David Hughes which was sold at Sheriffs sale and purchased by Elizabeth Hughes Daughter of the said William Hughes who afterwards became the Wife of the above named John Woods but never deeded Which said parcel of land above mentioned is bounded as follows Beginning at a black oak & Sourwood on the north boundary or line of the original tract Granted to William Hughes Aforesaid thence due East Sixty three poles to a black oak corner to siad tract thence due South one hundred & twenty seven poles to a white oak Corner thence due West sixty three poles to a black oak standing near the Road leading from Widow Scotts to New Bethal Meeting house thence due North one hundred & twenty Seven poles to the Beginning Containing by estimation Fifty acres to have & to hold the said fifty acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said David Hughes his heirs & assigns forever Which said piece or parcel of land will all the appurtenances the said John Woods doth by these presents warrant & forever defend unto the said David Hughes his heirs & assigns from all & every person or persons laying any lawful claim to the same In Witness whereof he the said John Woods hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year above Written John Woods (seal) State of TEnnessee { Court of Pleas &c May session Sullivan County } 1817 the execution of the within deed of conveyance was acknowledged in court by John Woods party thereto let it be registered Matthew Rhea Clk Regd 12th July 1817 By A.
