SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - State of North Carolina to Nathan Lewis ----¤¤¤---- Sullivan Co., TN, DB 3, p. 33: State of North Carolina to Nathan Lewis Transcribed by Robert Keyes Feb 10, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972706 State of North Carolina No 692 To all to whom these presents Shall come greeting Know ye that we for & in consideration of the sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasuary by Nathan Lewis have given & granted & by these presents do give & grant unto the sd Nathan Lewis a tract of Land containing two hundred acres Lying & being in our County of Sullivan Begining at Job Kees Corner pine tree then with his line South 20 poles to his corner stake near a pine tree then along Joseph Coles line East 72 poles to a red oak then North 40 poles to a pine tree then west 26 poles to a gum saplin & white oak then North 28 degr west 44 poles to george Maxwell Corner Red oak then with his line North ten Degr West 108 poles to James Brigams corner white oak then with his line suppo sed to be South Sixty Seven degr West 284 poles to a stake then South 44 poles to a stake then a straight line to the Begining as by the plat hereunto annexed Doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments & appurtenances to the sd land belon ing or appertaining to hold to the sd grantee his heirs & assigns forever yielding & paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time to ??? may direct provided always that the sd grantee Shall cause this gra nt to be registered in the Registers office of our sd County of Sul livan within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be void & of no effect in testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent and our great [seal] to be hereunto affixed Witness Samuel Ashe Esquire our governor Captain general & Commander in Chief at Raleigh the 27th Day of February in the 20 year of our in dependence & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety six By Command Samuel Ashe James Glasgow Secretary - March 12th day 1796 then Reg'r Ex.
