SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - DEEDS - State of North Carolina to Michael Masingill ----¤¤¤---- Sullivan Co., TN, DB 1, p. 317: State of North Carolina to Michael Masingill Transcribed by Robert Keyes Feb 6, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972705 State of North Carolina No 22 316 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting Know ye that we for and In consideration of the sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred acres hereby Granted paid into our treasuary by Michael Masingill have given and granted and by these presents Do give unto the said Michael Massingill a tract of Land Containing one hundred and fifty acres lying and being in our County of Sullivan on the head of hickory Creek it Being the plantation Richard Choat Formerly lived on begining at a poplar on a hill and Runing thece north forty five chains to a long leaf white oak in a rich valey and thence East thirty three chains and fifty links to a white oak and thence south forty five chains to a stake and thence west thirty three chains fifty links to the Begining as by the plat hereunto annexed Doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appertenances to the said Land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Michael Masingill his heirs and assigns for ever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly assembly from time to time may Direct provided always that the said Michael Masingill shall cause this grant to be Rgeistered in the Registers office of our said County of Sullivan within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of none effect in tes timony whereof we have caused our great seal to be hereunto affixed witness Alexander Martin Esquire our govenor Captain General and Commander in Chief at Fairfield the twenty third Day of October in the Seventh year of our Independence and In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty two By his Excellcys Com'd Alex, Martin J Glasgow Secretary October 15th 1789 Reg'st [Note: See also Massingill to Wm Cobb Washington Co., TN DB 1-442 & 1-449; see also Wm Cobb to John Scott 1794 DB 2-678] ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
