Keyes Jan 12, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972705 State of North Carolina No. 8 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting Know ye that we for & in consideration of the Sum of fifty Shillings for every hundred Acres hereby granted paid in to our Treasury by John Rhea have given & granted & by these pre sents do give and grant unto the said John Rhea a Tract of Land containing three hundred and fifty three Acres lying and being in our County of Sullivan on the North side of holston River on Bever Creek begining at a large White Oak on the South side of said Creek & runing thence [following line inserted above] forty degrees West one hundred and eighty pearches to a black oak thence [continuation after above insertion] due West one hundred & eight pearches to a small White Oak thence North fifty eight Degrees West fifty fifty six pearches to a large Buckeye & Shugar tree along the side of a large mountain or natural boundary to Steels Creek thence down said Creek as natural boundary the several courses thereof as followeth South thirty one Degrees East ninety six pearches down said Creek thence South fourteen pearches down said Creek thence South seventy five degrees twenty pearches down said Creek thence South five Degrees West sixty pearches thence South Se= venteen degrees East leaving said Creek as Boundary one hundred and forty pearches runing along the side of an high ridge as na tural Boundary thence South twenty nine Degrees West thirty pear ches [along] said boundary thence due West along said Boundary eight pearches to a white oak thence South thirty six degrees East fifty four pearches to a white oak on the Bank of bever Creek thence up said Creek across the several courses thereof due East tow Hundred and twenty pearches thence up said Creek North ten degrees West one hundred and forty pearches thence leaving the Creek as natural and conditional Boundary & runing along the side of and high Mountain as natural Boundary North thirty five Degrees West forty pearches to a Stake thence North twenty nine degrees East one hundred and seven pearchs to the be gining as by the plat hereunto anaxed doth apear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and apurtanan ces to the said Land belonging or apertaining to hold to the said John Rhea his Ears and Assigns forever yeilding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may derect provided always that the said John Rhea shall caus his grant to be Registered in the Registers office of our said County of Sulivan [blank] in twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be [void] of none effect in testimony whereof we have caused our great seal [to be h]earunto affixed Witness Richard Caswell Esquire our govener general & Commander in cheaf at Kingston the Seventeenth day ???? in the fourth year of independence & in the year our Lord one [thousand] Seven hundred and Eighty Excelenccys Commond R'd Caswell ???????eppard D Sec Febury 26'd 1781 Ex'd ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
