Keyes Jan 26, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972705 State of North Carolina No. 324 To all to whom these presents shall Greeting know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum ot ten pounds for every hundred acres hereby granted paid Into our treasuary by John Riley have given and granted & by these presents Do give & grant unto the said John Rieley a tract of Land con taining two hundred acres lying and being in our County of Sullivan on In dian Creek including the plantation formerly occupied by William Ashurt Begining at a pine tree then South two hundred and fifty poles crossing one fork of said Creek to a white oak thence along a large knob West one hundred poles crossing said creek to a stake thence along the Knobb south twenty Degrees West eighty poles to forked oak thence west Seventy six poles to forked poplar thence north Sixteen poles to a white oak thence along the knobbs North thirty eight Degrees East one hundred and seventy six pole to a stake thence north one hundred and seventy two poles to a stake thence East ninety six poles crossing said creek to the begining As by the plat hereunto annexed Doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments & appurtenances to the said Land belong ing or appertaining to hold to the said John Riely his heirs and assigns for ever yielding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may Direct provided always that that the said John Riley shall cause this grant to be Registered in the Registers office of our said County of Sullivan within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of no effect in Testimony whereof we have caused these our letters to be made patent and our great seal to be hereunto affixed witness Alexander Martin Esquire our govrnor Captain General & Commander in Chief at New Bern this ninth Day of November in the ninth year of our independance & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty four by his Excellys Com'd Alex Martin Jas Glasgow Secretary Nov 24th 1787 Reg'st [Note: See also John Riley to Andrew Riley DB 4-447; see also Andrew Riley to Edward Cox DB 4-813] ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
