Keyes Jan 29, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972705 State of North Carolina No 181 To alll to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that we for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasury by John Scott have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the sd John Scott a tract of Land Contain ing one hundred acres lying and being in our County of Sullivan on the south side of Holston river on the waters of Watogua river joining William Scotts Entry three hundred acres Begining at a sowerwood on the top of a ridge Genral Caswells Corner then North fifty five east two hundred and thirty two pole to a hickory on Nancy Shots line then north forty five west seventy pole to a stake a Corner of William Scotts three hundred and two hundred acres survays then along sd William Scotts Line South forty five West two hundred and thirty two pole to a stake south forty five East seventy pole to the Begining as by the plat hereunto annaxed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appertenances to the sd Land belonging or appertaining to hold to the sd John Scott his heirs and assigns forever yealding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may di rect provided allways that the sd John Scott shall cause this grant to be regis tered in the registers office of our sd County of Sullivan within twelve months from the date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of none effect In tes timony whereof we have caused these our Letters to [be] made patent and our great seal to be hereunto affixed Witness Alexander Martin Esq'r our governor Capt gene ral and Com'd in Chief at Hillsbro the tenth day of October in the Eighth year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three By his Exclly's Com'd Alex Martin J Glasgow Sec [Note: Sold to Jacob Shults DB 2-661; Shults to Wagoner DB 3-134] ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
