Keyes Jan 17, 2005 Source: LDS FHL film #972705 State of North Carolina No. 440 To all to whom these presents shall come greeting Know ye that we for and in Con sideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasuary by Martin Shults have given and granted and by these presents Do give and grant unto the said Martin Shults a tract of land containing one hun dred and sixty acres lying and being in our County of Sullivan on the South side of holston River Joining Samuel Smiths line beginning at three white oaks on the side of a ridge in Samuel Smiths line thence along said Smiths North fifty five West thirty eight poles to a white oak thence along said Smiths line North thirty East fifty two poles to a white and hickory thence north six East thirty poles to a white Thence North eight East forty poles to two small white oaks on Webbs line thence north fifty East two hundred poles to a stake thence South thirty two West two hundred and sixty six poles to a stake and from thence to the beginning as by the plat hereunto annexed Doth appear together with all woods waters mine minerals hereditaments and appertenances to the said land belonging or appertaining to hold to the said Martin Shults his heirs and assigns for ever yeilding and paying to us such sums of money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may Direct provided always that the said martin Shults shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers office of our said County of Sullivan within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the same shall be void and of none effect in testimony whereof we have caused these our Letters to be made patent and our great [seal] to be hereunto affixed witness Richard Caswell Esquire our govenor captain general and Commander in Chief at Kingston the ninth Day of August in the XII year of our independence Anno, Dom 1787 By his Excellencys Com'd J Glasgow Secretary R'd Caswell August 2th 1789 Regs't ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
