Keyes Jan 15, 2005 Source: FHL film# 972707 This Indenture made this tenth day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Ten between Elizabeth Spurgin George Webb John Hamilton, David Looney William Crawford, William Spurgin and James Wallace Heirs and Legatees of John Spurgin deceased on the one part and Samuel L Stephens of the County of Sullivan and State of Tennessee on the other part Witnesseth that the aforesaid Elizabeth Spurgin George Webb John Hamilton David Looney William Crawford William Spurgin and James Wallace for and in consideration of the sum of three Hundred dollars paid into the Hands of the said John Spurgin decd by Jos Cook the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these Presents do grant bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the aforesaid Samuel L Stephens his heirs and assigns forever a certain Tract or Parecl of land lying in the County of Sullivan aforesaid on the South side of Holston River being part of a three Hund red Tract Granted to Robert Collars [Sellers?] Beginning at a Cedar stump on the bank of the River by a road and running thence due South One Hundred and Seventy four poles to two white oaks on the original line of the aforesaid three hundred acre tract, thence with the said Original line East one hundred and one poles to a White oak and stump on William McKinleys line, thence with another of the aforesaid Original lines being also ?y??sses line North one hundred and eighty poles to a White oak and Sourwood on the bank of the River thence down the river to the Beginning containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less To have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises together with all and singular the appertenances to the same belonging or any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel L Stephens his heirs and assigns for ever and the aforesaid heirs and legatees do further covenant and agree unto and with the aforesaid Samuel L Stephens his heirs and Assigns the aforesaid land and [premises] to warrant and forever defend from and against the just or lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals the day and year first above Written Test Elizabeth Spurgin (seal) James Gregg George Webb (seal) Joseph?
