Robert Craig's Company of Virginia troops. He enlisted again August 20, 1778 and served as a private in Capt. Archibald Taylor's Company against the Shawnees and Delawares in the Ohio Country and marched to Fort McIntosh. He served eight months. He enlisted again in September 1780 and served three months as a private in Capt. Craig's Company, Col. Campbell's Virginia regiment and was in the battle of King's Mountain and later against the Indians. In September, 1781, he enlisted again and served two months in Col. Lynch's Virginia regiment. He was allowed a pension for which he applied Aug. 29, 1832, while living in Sullivan County, Tenn. In 1847 he had moved to Virginia where his grandson had built a house for him and his daughter, the names not being given in the pension record. He died in Washington County, Va., May 22, 1849. He married sometime in March, April 8, or May 8, 1787, (all three dates are given) in Sullivan County, Lucy Blevins. She applied for pension August 26, 1850, while she was living in Washington County, Va., and 88 years (so born in 1762). She died Nov. 15, 1865. They had a large family of children, the names given being: David, the oldest son Nancy, married _____ Starling, and William, Lucy Blevins Hughes, the widow had a sister, Nancy Girtman.
