SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - NEWSPAPERS - Kingsport Times, 20 Jun 1919, pg1 ----¤¤¤---- Funeral services for Mrs. Anna E. Tipton, who died Monday at her home on Hone Creek, were held Thursday at the Glen Alpine Church in which she had worshipped for many years. The services were conducted by the Rev. Lynn Bachman, a cousin, of Sweetwater, Tenn., and the Rev. Mr. King, pastor of the Kingsport Presbyterian Church, and were attended by scores of friends and relatives who had come from many sections of East Tennessee to pay tribute to Mrs. Tipton's memory. The body was buried in the Bachman Cemetery. Mrs. Tipton had been an invalid for four years. She was born 72 years ago in Old Kingsport and was the daughter of Enoch Bachman and Cornelia Powell Bachman. She became the wife of George A. Tipton, who survives her, in 1865, and was the mother of eight children, four of whom live in Kingsport. They are: Mrs. Jack Hall, Mrs. Guy Grills, Mrs. Hubert Riggs and Dr. E. W, Tipton. Miss Nellie Tipton Eves at home. Mrs. W. B. McClellan and N. B. Tipton make their home at Wilmington, N. C., and J. H. Tipton lives at Goldsboro, N. C. All of the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. McClellan, whose husband is critically ill. Mrs.- Tipton had been a member of the Blountville Presbyterian Church since childhood and throughout her life had always shown keen interest in church affairs, to which she gave much of her time. - During her lifetime she saw this section develop from a region of backwoods with few farms into on of the richest agricultural sections of the South.
