SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - NEWSPAPERS - Kingsport Times, 21 Nov 1919 - page 3 ----¤¤¤---- Mexicans Force Extry into American Consulate Mexicali, Mez., Nov. 19.— The forcible intrusion of a Mexican police officer into the American consulate here today in an attempt to make an arrest has resulted in the transmission of a formal complaint from Walter F. Boyle, American consul in Mexicali, to Secretary of State Lansing at Washington and also to Governor Cantu here. Knoxville Man Injured by Dynamite Under Car Knoxville, Tenn., Nov. 18.— Terry Conner, aged about 46 yean, residing at Fountain City, was seriously injured and a score or more other persons were badly shaken up as the result of an explosion under the wheels of a street car operated by nin-union workers here tonight. As the result of the explosion, the street car company announces that it has increased from $125 to $1,000 its reward for the arrest and conviction of any person charged with placing an explosive on the rails of its tracks. A reward of $100 is also offered for the arrest and conviction of anyone proved guilty of throwing stones or shooting through a street car, it is said. Water Company is Judged not Guilty Key West, Fl., Nov. 19. — A verdict of not guilty on all eight counts was returned in favor of the Miami Water Company in criminal court here today. The prosecution was by the State and the charge was that the company's water supply for the city of Miami was impure and a menace to the health of the community. City Fathers Cannot Increase Own Salaries Raleigh. C., Nov. 19.— City officiate in North Carolina ve no legal right to increase their own salaries, the state supreme court holds in an opinion handed down today in a test ease brought by the commissioners of Greensboro, N. C. The opinion reverses a favorable decision by the lower court. INDIAN SPRINGS Indian Springs, Tenn., Nov. 20. — Misses Alice Morton, Rosalie Miller and Alena Bridwell spent the weekend visiting friends in Bristol. Several from this place motored to Kingsport Sunday. Miss Mabel Miller has been visiting friends near Kingsport for the past week. There will be a lecture and box and ice cream supper at Indian Springs High School Friday night, Nov. 28. There will be a baseball game played at Indian Springs, Friday Nov. 21, between Wallace and Indian Springs. REEDY CREEK Reedy Creek, Nov. 20. — Rev. W. T. Evans filled his regular appointment at Mountain View Sunday. He was accompanied by his wife and children. Mrs. Maggie Fouch and three grand children, of Bristol, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leonard last week. Mrs. Mallie Lambirth spent Saturday and Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Gray. Cora and Mayme Crussell were the guests of Lottie Brickey Friday afternoon. Mrs. Fannie Lynn, Mrs. Josie Lynn and Miss Lucy Rice, were dinner guest of Mrs. Bettie Crawford Friday. E. P. Ketron made a business trip to Bristol Wednesday. Corda and Mayme Crussell and Effie Poore attended church at Mountain View Sunday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Neil Moody a son. Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
