SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - NEWSPAPERS - Kingsport Times, 6 Jun 1919 ----¤¤¤---- Scott County Farmer Killed by Neighbor Gate City, Va., 6.- Scott Redwine, a prominent Scott County Farmer, was shot to death Wednesday afternoon near Big Moccasin Creek, near here, in an altercation, it is dais, over the location of a road through a farm owned by T.O. Gilmer. Gilmer is charged with him murder. According to reports of the tragedy. Redwine was returning home when, he was stopped by Gilmer, with whom it is said, he had not been on speaking terms for several months. Gilmer, it is stated, had a revolver in his hand and after an exchange of words opened fire. The first bullet struck Redwine in the mouth. Four others entered his body. He died within 20 minutes. During the May term of court Redwine had been granted a decree giving him passage through a gate onto Gilmer's property, which adjoined his. Gilmer, who is 22 year old, married and the father of two children, gave himself up Wednesday night to Sheriff C. W. Daugherty. Redwine was 45 years old and is survived by his widow and five children.
