Bowers Jr. BLUFF CITY -- Charlie D. Bowers Jr., 72, of 125 Milhorn Drive, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Sullivan County, he was the son of the late Charlie D. Bowers Sr. and Liza Pierce Bowers. Mr. Bowers was of the Baptist faith and a dairy farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, William Manis; one sister, Ellen Parks; and one brother, Stanley Bowers. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bowers of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Kermit Manis of Bluff City; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Joyce Bowers of Kingsport; two brothers, Jay Bowers of Elizabethton and Joe Bowers of Bluff City; four sisters, Bonnie Oliver of Blountville, Carmie Oliver of Piney Flats, Gladys Lynch of Bristol Virginia, and Julie Willen of Bluff City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, from the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Mitchell and Rev. Mack Harr officiating. Music will be by New Life Baptist Choir. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Sunrise Cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, from the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home- Bluff City or other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bowers family.
